Boris Johnson leaves hospital to continue recovery at home

Boris Johnson has been discharged from hospital and will now rest at Chequers, his country home.

The Prime Minister was admitted to hospital last Sunday with ‘persistent coronavirus symptoms’ after testing positive for Covid-19 at the end of March.

He was then moved to intensive care on Monday evening, but was taken back to a general ward on Thursday.

A spokesperson for No. 10 said today: “The PM has been discharged from hospital to continue his recovery at Chequers. On the advice of his medical team, the PM will not be immediately returning to work.”

“He wishes to thank everybody at St Thomas’ for the brilliant care he has received. All of his thoughts are with those affected by this illness.”

This weekend, Johnson said of the NHS staff who had treated him: ‘I can’t thank them enough. I owe them my life.”
