Essex man killed in Ukrainian Plane crash

A man from Essex has been named as one of three Britons killed in the Ukrainian passenger plane crash in Iran.

Saeed Tahmasebi Khademasadi, 35, was an engineer from Brentwood. He was one of three British citizens who died in the plane crash this morning.

The flight to Kyiv went down just minutes after taking off from Tehran’s airport at 6:12am local time (2:42am GMT), killing all 176 people on board.

Mr Tahmasebi married his Iranian partner 34-year-old Niloufar Ebrahim last year. She was also killed in the tragedy.

Ukraine’s Tehran embassy initially blamed engine failure for the crash, but later removed the statement. It said any comment regarding the cause of the accident prior to a commission’s inquiry was not official.

A spokesman for Imperial College London, where Mr Tahmasebi was a post-graduate researcher, said: “We are deeply saddened at this tragic news.”

“Saeed Tahmasebi Khademasadi was a brilliant engineer with a bright future.”

“His contributions to systems engineering earned respect from everyone who dealt with him and will benefit society for years to come.

“He was a warm, humble and generous colleague and close friend to many in our community.”
