Essex woman makes emotional appeal for missing brother to come to her wedding

A woman has made an emotional appeal for her missing brother to return home to Essex as she prepares to tie the knot.

Anthony Stammers was last seen at his parents home address in Colchester in May 2012, over seven years ago.

His parents, Julie and Rob, along with his sister Cathy, appealed for him to get in touch before her wedding in the summer.

Miss Stammers said contact from “Ant” would be “life-changing”. She added: “A wedding is a family celebration and if he wanted to be a part of it, I would just love that.”

“The hardest thing is I can’t talk to him, I can’t let him know how much I love him, how much I miss him.”

Anthony suffered from depression and was feeling low after the death of his grandfather, to whom he was very close. He disappeared a day before the funeral.

Essex Police said Anthony left the family home at 10am on 27 May and an hour later, he messaged his mum and asked her to check his clothes for the funeral.

He was reported missing by his parents when he failed to attend the funeral service.

Officers had made an appeal to try and locate Anthony, whilst forensic divers scoured the river and railway line near his home.

Anthony’s mother added: “In my deepest, darkest moments obviously I do think is he alive, is he dead? It’s with you every minute of every day.”

Essex Police have confirmed the case remains open and urged anyone with information to get in touch.
