Full list of schools with positive coronavirus cases in Essex

A number of schools across Essex have reported positive cases of coronavirus amongst staff and pupils.

This means some pupils are facing a further fortnight away from the classroom, after schools reopened at the beginning of September.

The full list of schools confirmed to Essex Updates so far include:

St John Payne Catholic School in Chelmsford confirmed last week that a Year 12 pupil had tested positive for coronavirus. The school has asked pupils who have been in close contact with the student to self-isolate.

Thorpedene Primary School in Southend sent home all Year 1 pupils last week, after a child tested positive for Covid-19.

Westcliff High School for Girls confirmed that they had positive tests involving students who have been on site. The school said: “We have followed all the instructions from the DfE about identifying close contacts and they are now self-isolating.”

Ravens Academy in Clacton-on-Sea confirmed two members of their ‘childcare setting community’ had tested positive for Covid-19 last week. The school said the small number of children who had been in “direct prolonged contact” will be staying at home for 14 days.

Great Baddow High School in Chelmsford confirmed that one of their Year 13 pupils had tested positive for Covid-19. The school said it was working closely with Public Heath England on the appropriate next steps and all members of its school community had been informed.

Glenwood School in Benfleet confirmed two members of staff tested positive for coronavirus. The school said that two classes have been sent home to isolate.

Sweyne Park School in Rayleigh has confirmed a member of staff has tested positive for the virus. Staff members and pupils who have been in close contact with the affected person have been sent home.

Freshwaters Primary Academy in Harlow closed on 8 September after a number of students displayed coronavirus symptoms. The school has now fully reopened.
