Police message after man dies falling from Essex bridge

Essex Police have asked the public to be “respectful” and not “pre-judge” the death of a man yesterday.

The man died following a collision along the A12 at Marks Tey yesterday (Thursday 20 August) at around 1.40pm.

The collision involved a pedestrian and up to four vehicles. It’s believed the man fell from a bridge ahead of the collision.

The road was closed for considerable time, while officers carried out their investigations.

Police have confirmed the man’s family have been contacted.

The statement released by Essex Police said: “Could we please ask that people do not pre-judge the police investigation by assuming any of the circumstances relating to this case in the interests of everyone involved and their families.”

“Please be respectful in your comments and think about who may be reading them. Thank you.”
