Murder inquiry launched after man stabbed to death in Essex street

A murder investigation has been launched after a man has died in a stabbing incident in Southend.

Police were called to Cromer Road at 11.50pm last night (Friday 6 March) after a man in his 20s was found with stab wounds.

It is believed the man was attacked after an altercation with a group of people in the area. The group then left the scene in a dark-coloured, possibly black, Mercedes.

A few hours later, a vehicle was stopped in the Southend area after and a 45 year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

A spokesperson for Essex Police said: “At this stage we believe a number of people were involved in the assault which has led to this man’s death.”

“We believe they left the area in dark-coloured Mercedes, possibly black, shortly afterwards and we need to identify them, trace them, and speak to them.

“We believe this was a targeted attack and there’s no risk to the wider public.

“My officers will be carrying out enquiries throughout today including house-to-house in the area so if you saw anything or have any information please speak to them or give us a call.”
