Man’s body found in Chelmsford after search and rescue operation

The body of a man has been found in a popular nature reserve in Chelmsford after a search and rescue operation.

The discovery was made in Chelmsford’s Galleywood Common yesterday (15 January), after emergency services were seen searching the area for several hours.

The body is believed to be of a man in his 40s.

The operation, which lasted for three hours, involved search and rescue teams with dogs, supported by police officers

A spokesperson for Essex Police said: “We attended the sudden death of a man in Galleywood Common on Wednesday 15 January.”

“Sadly, a man in his 40s was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after 11.15am.”

“The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for Her Majesty’s Coroner.”
