Mini heatwave to hit Essex

Temperatures in Essex are set to soar over the next few days, as a mini heatwave hits the county.

Essex could see a maximum temperature of 34C on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

The majority of the country will be basking in some very hot temperatures, with London and the South East of Britain expected to see the highest.

The Met Office has said the hot weather this week will be caused by weather from continental Europe, which has seen highs of 40C recently.

Public Health England have already issued an Amber heat-health warning – one level below a “national emergency” red warning – for some parts of the UK.

A spokesperson for Public Health England said: “Our advice to the public is to think now about anyone you know who may feel the ill-effects of hot weather – older people, those with heart and lung conditions and young children – and consider what help they may need.”

They have also advised people to stay out of the sun, stay hydrated and keep their homes cool by shading windows in the event of extreme heat.
