Murder investigation launched after motorcyclist killed in Essex

Essex Police have launched a murder investigation after a motorcyclist died in a fatal collision in Harwich.

The incident occurred yesterday afternoon (15 Wednesday) at about 2.45pm in Marine Parade. The collision involved a motorbike and a BMW.

The motorcyclist, a man in his twenties, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. The driver of the BMW failed to stop at the scene of the collision.

A pedestrian in her eighties was also injured in the incident. She sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.

Detectives believe that this was a targeted incident and are treating the death as murder.

Two men were seen leaving the scene and are thought to have been in the BMW.  Police are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen the men at the time of the incident.
