Murder investigation launched after fatal stabbing in Essex

A murder investigation has been launched after a man has died in a stabbing outside a Chelmsford pub.

Emergency services were called to the Rose and Crown pub at 8pm last night (Friday 31 January) after reports that two men had been assaulted outside the Writtle pub.

Sadly one of the men died at the scene. The other was taken to hospital for treatment. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Both men had suffered stab wounds.

Four men have been arrested on suspicion of murder and have been taken into custody for questioning.

Officers are carrying out enquiries in the area and the road has been closed to allow for a forensic examination of the area.
