Pedestrian killed in crash in Essex

An elderly pedestrian has sadly died after he was hit by a car in Essex. Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident to come forward.

The collision happened on Tuesday (May 26) afternoon at about 2.55pm on Lodge Road, in the village of Woodham Mortimer.

The pedestrian, a 76-year-old man from Maldon, was taken to hospital by Ambulance, where he sadly died of his injuries.

The collision involved the pedestrian and a blue Suzuki Jimny. The driver of the Suzuki, a 42-year-woman from Brentwood, continues to assist officers with their enquiries. 

The road was closed for some time whilst officers carried out an investigation at the scene. It has now been reopened.

Police are appealing to anyone who may have information about the incident or anyone who has dash cam footage to come forward.
