Police taser man after two women stabbed in Basildon

A man has been arrested after two women were stabbed in a house in Basildon.

The incident happened on Quendon Road at around 8.20pm last night (Friday 22 May). Police were called to the scene after reports of a man with a knife heading towards the area.

The road was cordoned off and a man was arrested after being tasered.

Two women, aged in their 50s and 20s, suffered stab wounds inside a property on the road. There was also criminal damage to a number of vehicles nearby.

The man, a 31-year-old, has been taken into custody and arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm, resisting arrest, and criminal damage.

A spokesperson for Essex Police said: “”Officers attended within three minutes, following reports that a man had a knife and was heading towards the Fryth. A Taser was discharged and he was detained within eleven minutes of 999 being called.”

“Anyone who has information about this incident and has not yet spoken to our officers is asked to call 101 and quote the incident number 1156 of Friday 22 May.”
