Storm Dennis is set to hit Essex and forecasters are warning people to expect another miserable weekend of wet, windy weather.
The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for most of Saturday and Sunday, with heavy rain expected across the county.
The whole country apart from Northern Ireland and northern Scotland will be hit on Saturday, while every part of the UK will be affected on Sunday.
It’s feared that properties could be flooded or even cut off – partly because Storm Ciara has already saturated the ground.
The Met Office has warned that Storm Dennis will bring a month of rainfall for some parts of the UK in just 24 hours this weekend.
Fast flowing or deep floodwater is also likely, “causing danger to life”, while trains, buses and roads could be hit by closures, cancellations and delays.
A spokesman for the Met Office said: “Spells of heavy and prolonged rain are expected to affect parts of England and Wales over the weekend with a higher likelihood of impacts now expected in some areas.”
Around 20-40 mm of rain will fall widely with 50-80 mm likely across parts of northern and southern England.
“Gusts of 50mph are expected widely inland, with around 60 mph in places. Around the coasts, especially in the west and south, gusts of 60-70 mph are likely.”
