A man has been arrested in the early hours of this morning, following a fatal hit and run in Colchester.
A woman was killed in the collision, which took place shortly after 6pm yesterday (27 August) on Avon Way.
Emergency services responded to the incident, however despite their best efforts, the woman sadly died at the scene.
The driver of the vehicle failed to stop at the scene and was arrested in Suffolk this morning. He remains in Police custody while enquiries continue.
The road was closed while emergency services dealt with the incident.
A spokesperson for Essex Police said: “We would like to thank local residents and road users for their patience and understanding, while we progressed our investigation.”
