Security guard arrested after woman raped in Essex hospital

A security guard has been arrested after a woman was sexually assaulted at an Essex hospital.

Nicholas Bell, 22, of Little Brays, Harlow, has been charged with raping a woman in her 30s at the Princess Alexandra Hospital.

Detectives said the incident happened on Sunday 5 April, whilst Bell was working at the hospital as a security guard.

He has been remanded into custody and will appear at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court in May.

Essex police say their investigation remains ongoing and enquires are being led by the Adult Sexual Abuse Investigation Team in Harlow.

A spokesperson for Essex Police said: “Nicholas Bell, 22, of Little Brays, Harlow, was arrested following reports a woman aged in her 30s had been assaulted at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow on Sunday 5 April.”

“Bell, who works for the hospital as a security guard, appeared at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on Monday 6 April and is next due to appear at Chelmsford Crown Court on Monday 4 May.”
